Tsotsonavas, IDPs from Abkhazia, Remain Homeless Law enforcement officers are evicting the Tsotsonavas from their flat in Guramishvili Street # 5, in Tskneti village close to Tbilisi. According to the Court decision, the Muzashvilis are legal owners of the flat in Tskneti. Some of the furniture of the Tsotsonavas already has been taken out of the flat. Guards are in the house.

Color TV-Set and Black-and-White Reality IDPs have problems almost everywhere and they are constantly “assisted” however this assistance is ineffective because they permanently have problems everywhere. Very often the assistance is not only ineffective but also imaginary and IDPs claim that it is part of PR campaign largely shown on TV. It is not doubtful that internally displaced people feel very insulted by similar treatment. Several IDPs visited the Human Right Center last week. They complained about their living conditions and consequently, we visited the IDPs residing in the former building of Military Headquarters of the South Caucasus.

Because of hard social-economical conditions Ossetian people living in several villages of Kakheti region flee from Georgia. Some move to Tskhinvali and others resettle in Vladikavkaz. Scholars of Conflicts and human rights defenders claim that the reason for their resettlement has an ethnic factor together with a factor involving social conditions.

The residents who lived in the villages of Liakhvi valley temporarily are not aided from the government yet. The government distributed about 10 000 USD only to the permanent inhabitants of the Liakhvi valley. However there are a lot of families, so called “holiday-makers”, who had their houses and small plots there where received some harvest; the harvest used to be the source of their income.

IDPs from Abkhazia are being evicted from the building where they have lived for 16 years. Despite their protest, Koba Subeliani, Minister of Refugees and Accommodation, stated that resettlement of the IDPs aims to create better living conditions for them; 138 million GEL is envisaged for the purpose in the budget of 2009. The Minister claims the decision will not be changed and resettlement of IDPs will finish in 2009-2010.
