Homeless Families in Dedoplistskaro Request Compensation

Tamila Gurashvili has been homeless for three years; she lives in the former building of the military base in Leselidze Street in Dedoplistskaro. Currently, she lives in unbearable conditions together with her mother and child. Tamila had to leave her house in 2012; she had lived there for 20 years.
Convicted Giorgi Marsagishvili Urges for Help

On March 23, 2015 convicted Giorgi Marsagishvili from Batumi prison # 3 sent letter to Human Rights Center. The prisoner wrote about extremely unbearable conditions in the penitentiary establishment. According to his letter, life-threatening conditions are purposefully created in the punishment rooms. Giorgi Marsagishvili names concrete people and requests their punishment because they inhumanly treat prisoners.
Gurjaani District Court Sentenced Vaja Utiashvili to Three-Year Imprisonment

On March 24, Gurjaani district court sentenced Vaja Utiashvili, resident of Gurjaani, to three-year imprisonment. Lawyer of Kakheti office of Human Rights Center Lia Khuroshvili defends rights of the convicted person. Khuroshvili said Vaja Utiashvili is innocent; the judgment is unfair and she will appeal it at the Appeal Court.
Round Table – Ecological Problems in Tchiatura

On March 26, Human Rights House Tbilisi organized round table to discuss ecological problems in Tchiatura. Participants discussed environment pollution caused by the manganese obtaining and processing in Tchiatura by the company Georgian Manganese. Representatives of the nongovernmental organizations and state institutions participated in the discussion. Round table – Ecological Problems in Tchiatura was opened with the screening of the documentary film Grey Tchiatura prepared by the Media Institute.
Controversy in Kutaisi Opera Theatre

Argument between the employees of the Kutaisi Balanchivadze Opera and Ballet State Theatre turned into conflict. The reason of the disagreement was position of the art director, which became vacant after director Gogi Tchitchinadze left.
Lacking adequate housing

In accordance to the special report of Public Defender of Georgia, Right to Adequate Housing, 9 805 families have willfully occupied 401 buildings in Tbilisi. Among them, 4 170 families have already legalized their flats, 5 635 families continue living in the buildings without any legal grounds. The majority of the citizens willfully living in these flats are socially vulnerable people.
Juveniles in Jails

According to the data by December, 2014 there are 83 juvenile convicts/accused in the penitentiary establishments of Georgia that is 0.8% of the total amount of convicts in Georgia. According to the December, 2014 data, there are 36 accused and 47 convicted juveniles in Georgia; all of them are boys.

The Baku Court on Grave Crimes has been discussing the cases of the arrested human rights defenders for two months already. On March 10, the Court continued discussion into the case of Intigam Aliyev, Azerbaijan human rights defender, who was arrested on August 8, 2014. The main part of the hearing was spent on the discussion of solicitations from the defense side. Interrogation of the witness caused conflict in the courtroom for what the judge postponed the process.

Former prisoners have unemployment problem

Overall amnesty in January 2013 affected about 17 000 prisoners. As a result of large-scaled amnesty 8 212 prisoners left the prison that means number of unemployed people in Georgia increased with the new wave of former prisoners.
