Research Results – Are Human Rights Protected in the Country?
The Georgian polling agency ACT published the nationwide research - Human Rights and Access to Justice in Georgia: Public Perceptions and Awareness, commissioned by the European Union (EU) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The research aimed to evaluate the awareness and knowledge of respondents about human rights. Also to study the perception of respondents towards those main institutes which are responsible for the defense of human rights and access to justice.
Statistics of Kidnapping of Georgian Citizens across the Occupation Line
From January 1 to June 27, 2017 78 citizens of Georgia have been abducted alongside the occupation line for the alleged charge of illegal crossing of the so-called border with the de-facto South Ossetia. Press-center of the State Security Service provided humanrights.ge with the statistics. The statistics for each month is the following: 7 citizens were abducted in January, 2017; 7 citizens in February; 8 – in March, 8 in April, 8 in May, 27 in June and 12 in July. In 2016, 134 citizens of Georgia were arrested for the crossing of the so-called border.

Dashgin and Orkhan Agalarls Will not Be Expelled from Georgia 
Human Rights Center defends interests of Dashgin Agalarl, who is a member of the opposition political party Musavat in Azerbaijan. He was persecuted by the Azerbaijani authority for years because of his political views and criticism of the government’s policy. Dashgin Agalarl and his son, Orkhan Agalarl have been living in Georgia since 2014 and seek refugee status here.
“Rise” of the Former Regional Governor’s Family – 300 hectares of land under ownership
Marine Gviniashvili, after her son Irakli Shiolashvili was appointed to the position of the Kakheti regional governor, purchased 83 hectares of land in Dedoplistskaro municipality for 18 000 USD and 65 000 GEL. Genadi Shiolashvili, the father of the governor, owns 215 hectares of agricultural land. The former regional governor did not mention the parents in his financial declarations even though they lived together. 
“Mr. President, do not you thank that the pardon order is just a formal act?!”
“I have your order on pardon dated by 2014 in front of me, I may have read the legal document at least hundreds times and in particular the so-called criteria which must be met by every applicant convicted person to be pardoned. Mr. President, do not you think that the pardon order is just a formal act?! Freedom is huge happiness for any woman but I failed to find links between the estimated criteria with the conditions the already pardoned convicted people had when applying to you,” the convicted Ketevan Khmaladze expects answers to these questions, shared by other pardon-applicant women, from the President. 
Presidents at the Occupation Line
On July 19, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, during his official visit in Georgia, arrived in the villages on the occupation line together with the President of Georgia. The Presidents started the visit from the village Odzisi, adjacent to the occupation line in Akhalgori municipality, from where they could see the Russian military base constructed after the 2008 August war.

Human Rights Center prepared an information bulletin - Parliamentary Elections 2016. 
The bulletin provides information about the pre-election period, Election Day, second round and post-election period of the 2016 Parliamentary Elections in Georgia.

Chabuk Was Refused to Get Refugee Status in Georgia and Threats to His Family

Unidentified people threat the family members of Mustafa Emre Chabuk, Demireli School Manager, with liquidation – his wife Tuba Chabuk made statement about it. The family requests state defense from the Government of Georgia. Several days before this fact, the Ministry of Refugees and Accommodation of Georgia refused Chabuk to grant the refugee status.

Chairman of the nongovernmental organization Gori Information Center Mikheil Chitadze continues fight against the unification of the local self-governments and together with the Gori City Council member Tamar Tedliashvili applied to the Gori DEC # 32 to get registered as a candidates for Gori City Mayor and municipal governor on behalf of the initiative group. The initiative group wished to register Chitadze as a candidate for the position of the Gori City Mayor and Tedliashvili for the position of the municipality governor..

Information Bulletin of Human Rights Center– International Criminal Court Investigation in Georgia
Human Rights Center prepared Information Bulletin – International Criminal Court Investigation in Georgia. The bulletin reflects main tendencies regarding ongoing investigation by the International Criminal Court into the situation of Georgia, over alleged crimes against humanity and war crimes committed in the context of international armed conflict between 1 July and 10 October 2008.
