Successful and failed projects – the report of the Gori municipality mayor
Gori municipality mayor Konstantine Tavzarashvili held meeting to summarize his one-year activities in the office; the meeting was organized in the Gori Drama Theater on December 26. Mainly, the employees of the agencies subordinated to the municipal city hall administration attended the presentation of his report. In addition to that, the citizens, who were beneficiaries of the city hall in 2018 and openly demonstrated positive feelings about the local authority, were individually invited to the presentation. Consequently, no critical questions were asked during the meeting.

Failed projects and two million GEL left in the budget
Gori Municipality City Hall has left up to 2 million GEL unspent in 2018 budget. These funds were allocated mostly for infrastructural projects. Among them, one of the key projects was construction of a kindergarten in the railway station settlement in Gori and the city hall announced tender on it three times. As the building companies violated the tender conditions several times, the city hall announced the tender for the fourth time.

Apple chips factory alongside the occupation line
Shako Mdzinarashvili, a student of the Food Technology Faculty at the Agricultural University of Georgia, together with his friends had an idea to replace potato chips with apple chips. After months-long work, they realized the idea in the frame of the program StartUp Georgia and established apple chips factory in Ditsi village adjacent to the occupation line with South Ossetia. Their apple chips “Enkeni” is already being sold in markets.

Gori municipality budget to increase next year
The members of the municipal council discussed the 2019 draft budget of Gori municipality on December 18 at the united session of the Gori municipality council commissions. According to the project, the next year budget will be increased with 6 900 000 GEL and will amount to 39 109 000 GEL.

Ergneti IPRM Meetings resumed after three-month delay
After the September 14 failed meeting, the first meeting was held on December 18 in Ergneti in the frame of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism. The September 14 meeting was failed and postponed upon the request of the de-facto authority of South Ossetia, who claimed to remove the issue of Davit Basharuli and Archil Tatunashvili from the agenda. On December 18, the representatives of the Government of Georgia again raised the issue of Basharuli and Tatunashvili’s murder cases.

Public Defender calls on the Parliament not to adopt the law, which changes legal status of the employees of the President’s Administration
The Parliament of Georgia is considering a draft law that changes the legal status of professional public servants employed in the Presidential Administration in an accelerated manner. The draft law transforms the professional public servants employed in the Presidential Administration into persons employed under administrative contract, which simplifies grounds for their dismissal. We believe that the mentioned legislative initiative violates the labour rights of the employees of the Presidential Administration, including the constitutional right of Georgian citizens to be protected from unjustified dismissal.

Representatives of the anti-occupation movement – “Power Is in Unity” have been patrolling 24 hours in Atotsi village, Kareli municipality close to the occupation line for one month already. They have set up tents right in the field. They are observing movement of the occupation regime and create obstacles for them to continue demarcation of the so-called border alongside the occupation line.

In the central park of the city “Akhalbagi”, the investigative activities continue to find the boy, who disappeared in Gori 14 years ago. I.N, suspect in the murder of the nine-years-old girl in Gori, also participated in the investigative experiment. He participated in the criminal case related with the disappeared boy 14 years ago.

Adam Gumashvili from Pankisi Gorge was killed in Syria
Adam (Guram) Gumashvili, 44, from Jokolo village in Pankisi Gorge was killed in Syria. The wife of the deceased informed the family and relatives in Pankisi about it in the morning of November 30, 2018. The family already receives condolences in the village of Jokolo.

Second round of the presidential elections in Gori
According to the results of 105 polling stations in Gori District Election Commission N32, the candidate of the united opposition Grigol Vashadze gained 38.01% (25 288 votes) of votes and the Georgian Dream backed independent candidate Salome Zurabishvili received 61.99% (41 244) of votes. In the first round, as reported by Gori DEC N32, Grigol Vashadze received 4 000 votes more than Salome Zurabishvili. The figures changed as a result of high activity of the voters in the second round – the turnout of voters reached 61% on November 28, 2018.

Inauguration of the President-Elect of Georgia to Be Held on December 16, 2018
The second round of the Presidential Elections was held on November 28. According to the Central Election Commission, the candidate of the United Opposition Grigol Vashadze gained 40.46% (779 614) of votes, while the Georgian Dream-backed candidate Salome Zurabishvili gained 59.54% (1 147 106) of votes.

The investigative bodies continue search of the boy, who disappeared in Gori 14 years ago, in the central park of the city “Akhalbagi”. The area is surrounded with yellow ribbons of police and is protected by police officers.

The occupation regime renewed so-called border demarcation works near Atotsi village
The occupation regime started so-called border demarcation works on November 6 near the Atotsi village in Kareli municipality. By November 8, the iron poles were installed in approximately 500 meters near the village, which will be used to make barbwires or iron constructions alongside the occupation line.
