Within the framework of its trial monitoring project, the Human Rights Center announces the opening of a lawyer position in its Tbilisi office. The lawyer will work full time under the leadership of the project coordinator.
Main duties:
• Monitoring selected trials and preparing reports to assess whether the court complied with principles of fair trial as guaranteed by Georgian and international law
• Studying cases selected for monitoring; obtaining case material through correspondence with the court as well as by communicating with the individuals directly involved in the case
• Consulting with journalists who will write articles regarding the selected court trials
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree with specialization in criminal law
• At least two years of criminal law practice
• Familiarity with main international human rights documents
• Good knowledge of English and Georgian
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programs
• Ability to work both independently and as a team member
• Distinguished skills in communication and organization
• Analytical and critical thinking skills, punctuality, objectivity
Salary: $450
