Levan Gachechiladze send Journalists away from Videoconference Hall

November 22, 2007

Levan Gachechiladze, presidential candidate of the United National Council, made journalists of Rustavi 2 and Mze leave the videoconference organized by the Tbilisi International Press Centre of RIA NOVOSTI on November 21.

According to Levan Gachechiladze, his decision was provoked by the subjectivity of these TV companies. The reason of his irritation was the report which the abovementioned TV companies broadcasted on November 20. It touched upon the visit of opposition leaders to a hospital where they met people injured during the November 7th demonstration. Opposition leaders used one of the injured persons as an example and stated that firearms were used against the peaceful demonstrators. The report covered the position of the Ministry of Health and its representatives categorically denied all accusations made against them. They offered opposition leaders to independently investigate the situation.

The videoconference linked Tbilisi International Press Centre and Moscow Press Centre of RIA NOVOSTI. Levan Gachechiladze answered all questions put forward by Russian journalists and accredited representatives of foreign media in Moscow.
