Jondi Bagaturia's Brother Was Arrested on Political Grounds

January 11, 2008
Jondi Bagaturia reported that on January 5.at 7: 30 pm his brother was arrested at the Polling Station # 21, in Didube Precinct Election District; his brother was accompanied by activists from the United Opposition Didube Office.

" My brother and activists of the United Opposition were arrested at the moment they were trying to prevent a group of people from carousel from voting at the polling station at least for the fifth time. There was no fighting. They exchanged only several "kind" words. During this "conversation" one of the voters accidentally dropped and broke his mobile phone. Patrol Police interfered in the incident. Having learned that my brother was there, policemen immediately arrested him. The criminal case was initiated on Hooliganism (apparently, somebody who prevents multiple voting is a hooliganism.).Yesterday our "free" court sentenced him to a two-month pre-trial detention. The damage that the owner of the mobile phone received was assessed  in 180 GEL."

Jondi Bagaturia thinks that the arrest of his brother was a political step that would give the opportunity to Saakashvili team members to bargain with him (meaning Jondi Bagaturia).
