Journalist Was Insulted in the Building of Municipality Council

February 4, 2008
Zaza Kobiashvili, the Chairman of the Legal Committee of the Municipality Council and member of the National Movement, attacked and abused journalist Gela Mtivlishvili in public when the latter was leaving the sitting hall. The questions of the journalist irritated public officials. The members of the Municipality Council announced their initiative to close down the museums in the district. In exchange of it, they wanted to increase their own salaries.

Preliminary investigation was launched at the Gurjaani Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The journalist demanded the police to examine Zaza Kobiashvili several times, to estimate whether he was under drug-influence or not. However, his request is not satisfied yet.

Journalist demands Zaza Kobiashvili to apologize to him publicly; otherwise he will appeal to the court against the local official.
