Teachers from Gali District Will Receive Vouchers on Health Welfare in Zugdidi

Today, Gia Nodia, Minister of Education and Science and other officials from the Ministry will meet teachers from Gali and Zugdidi districts at Zugdidi Public School # 2.

The minister will provide the teachers with the information about various activities being implemented by the Ministry. Two months ago teachers from Gali district met officials from the Ministry and some promises were made.  Already parts of those promises have been fulfilled. One of similar promises was vouchers for health services.  Since now 688 teachers from the conflict zone will enjoy free or preferential medical treatments along with other 70,000 teachers throughout Georgia.

Problems of Zugdidi and Gali districts and the ways of solution will be focused at the meeting.

The Minister will answer questions for nearly 300 teachers about their salaries, textbooks, tuition programs, United National Standardized Exams and other educational issues.

Four public schools were completely rehabilitated in Zugdidi District; 13 schools were partially rehabilitated. Modern central heating systems were installed in those schools; computers working in internet were introduced to every school. Classrooms of most public schools are now equipped with new desks. Several playgrounds and training fields of public schools were rehabilitated too. A total of 5 312 712 GEL was spent for rehabilitation works during 2006 in Zugdidi and a total of 2, 840 635 GEL in 2007.
