Jondi Baghaturia: Government Prolongs the Process to Release Prisoners from Jails

March 5, 2008

Jondi Baghaturia, leader of the political party “Georgian Company” and member of the National Council of the United Opposition, is dissatisfied with the working process of the government when it comes to releasing those detained during the November 7 demonstrations. He thinks that the process has been seriously prolonged

Jondi Baghaturia reported to the Medianews that several more people were released from the prison as a result of negotiations; among them Levan Barabadze who was arrested on November 10; he was blamed for the resistance and threatening of law enforcers.

“The government amends the constitution three times a day; but when they have to release people from prison they prolong the time,” said Baghaturia.

He is against the bail of two thousand GEL which is imposed on the people within the procedural and legal norms.

The leader of the “Georgian Company” demands to drop the criminal investigation against the people arrested during the November demonstrations.

It is noteworthy that only nearly ten people are set free from the list of thirty people that was produced to the government by the National Council. These people were blamed for public disorder and resistance against law enforcers.
