Round Table Will Be Organized To Popularize the Activities of the Probation Service Department

On March 7 a round table will be organized in the hotel “Park Potel Imeri” in Kutaisi; the round table will be dedicated to the popularization of the activities of the Non-Custodial and Probation National Service Department within the Georgian Ministry of Justice. Representatives of the Imereti Regional Probation Bureau, Court, prosecutor’s office and police department as well as local governmental and non-governmental organizations attended the meeting.

The participants of the round table will discuss the issues regarding the innovations introduced by the new law on Probation, as well as the cooperation of non-custodial establishments with the governmental institutions, NGOs and church in order to rehabilitate and employ the convicted people.

Imereti is the fifth region where the round table will be organized on the issue. Similar meetings will be arranged in all regions throughout Georgia.

The event is organized by the Ministry of Justice, the Probation National Service as well as Penitentiary and Probation Reform Project of the European Commission and the “Penal Reform International”.
