Central Government: “Help for Homeless Eter Dzmanashvili?

April 22, 2008
Eter Dzmanashvili, a resident of the village of Ninigori in Lagodekhi District, is one of those who could not participate in the much acclaimed State Poverty Reduction Program.

Eter Dzmanashvili, was even insulted by the head of the Agency for Social Subsidies in Lagodekhi District when she requested the central government to pay some attention and to assist her with her problems.

Eter Dzmanashvili rents a house; she does not have domestic animals and her only income is 55 GEL she receives as a pension. All members of Dzmanashvili’s family are so ill that they need constant medical treatment. The housewife, Eter Dzmanashvili is also a disabled woman.

“With 55 GEL I manage to pay a house-rent and buy a loaf of bread. The family cannot eat minimal amount of food each day. Our neighbors and close relatives help us with some food products,” said Eter Dzmanashvili in her interview with the Radio Hereti.

Radio Hereti tried to find out the situation at the Agency for Social Subsidies in Lagodekhi. Temur Gogoladze, the head of the agency, did not wish to make comments and advised the impoverished people to apply to their agency for help instead applying to media sources for help

Eter Dzmanashvili claims that she has applied several times to the Agency in general, and Temur Gogoladze personally but all times to no avail.  She now requests the agency consider sending a special commission to carry out repeated examination of her family. However, in reply to her request, Dzmanashvili received on received rude response from Gogoladze as to her plight.
