Five Members of Equality Institute Arrested

April 23, 2008

Five members of the nongovernmental organization “Equality Institute” were arrested by patrol police near State Office today for disturbing public order and trashing the territory of a State Establishment.

Irakli Kakabadze, the leader of “Equality Institute” and his cohorts held a theatrical performance in front of State office and Parliament building  with the title “Down with the Police State!”.

The patrol police arrived on the scene, not for the entertainment, but when members of the “Equality Institute” began inscribing paints “Down with force government!” “No violence” and so forth and so on near a governmental office

There was some kind of verbal misunderstanding between patrol police and the painting protestors. Those detained were taken to Gldani Administrative Affairs Court to explain their actions.
