TV Company “Imedi” will begin Broadcasting on 5 May

May 1, 2008

Joseph Kay, the new owner of TV Company “Imedi” declared that “Imedi” will start broadcasting on 5 May and that “nothing will interfere this”

Joseph Kay, which is the same Soso Kakiashvili, and who is the citizen of United States, told the Georgian newspaper “Kvela Siakhle” that resolving problems over financial obligations and technical issues of TV Company still needed some time. The issue of license was a matter that also had to be solved.

Kay said that about 100 employees left TV – Radio Company and this might be followed by other staff changes.

“TV Company “Imedi” will be an evenhanded and objective television, the same as it was before Badri Patarkatsishvili’s became involved in politics. It will not be the mouthpiece, neither for government nor the opposition”, - said the owner of “Imedi” to Georgian newspaper “Kvela Siakhle”

Ina Gudavadze, widow of TV Company’s founder, billionaire Arkadi (Badri) Patarkatsishvili and her two daughters have filed a suit in US Federal Court, New York, Manhattan District against 49 years old Joseph Kay, Badri Patarkatsishvili’s cousin and  54 years old Emanuel Zeltser.

Patarkatsishvili’s family blames Kay and Zeltser for using bogus documents and for misappropriating Patarkatsishvili’s business dealings, and the TV-radio Company being among them.

Kay also said that the argument should be discussed by Georgian court, because all of the activities are within Georgia and that all procedures transpired according to Georgian Law. Nonetheless, he added that he will win this case in any court of law.
