Vakhtang Khmaladze Request Eradication of Election List Violations

May 6, 2008
Vakhtang Khmaladze, parliamentary candidate in Isani district in Tbilisi from Republic Party, will appeal to the Precinct Election Commission with the request to overcome violations in the election lists.

Vakhtang Khmaladze reported to Medianews that several kinds of violation were detected among the election lists. For example, nearly 100 voters are registered in one flat whom the real owner of the flat does not know at all. “The problems regarding the election lists are similar to the problems we had regarding the lists during the presidential elections. We found out that 19 dead people are registered in the Election District # 1 in Isani District. The relatives of the dead people state that although they submitted the death notification to the election commission, that the deceased remain on the list,” said Vakhtang Khmaladze.

The candidate added that there are some problems with voters who live abroad. Khmaladze said that these people were inserted on the list though they are not in Georgia. He added, “The addresses are not registered correctly. We have discovered hundreds of people who are registered on the wrong address on the election lists. We are particularly worried about the fact that 36 under-age people are on the election list in two election districts. Based on these violations, we will appeal to the Precinct Election Commission, CEC, and demand to look through the lists again. The commission must observe the violations within two days and react on them,” said Vakhtang Khmaladze.
