Trade Union Factory Protest in Khelvachauri, Adjara Gets Journalist Beaten

The Trade Union’s warning protest at “BTM TEXSTIL” in Batumi ended-up with the beating of a journalist and a TV operator.

The protest started today, at 8 AM and employees of the factory organized the action to protest the dismissal of 9 factory employees because they belonged to the trade union.

Jazmi Akshaili, the director of the factory called the employees several times during the protest demonstration to return to their work. Later, when Giorgi Tserodze, TV- Adjara’s journalist asked him to be interviewed   Akshaili put hand on the camera, demanded not be filmed and to beat the journalist.

The Turkish manager’s act infuriated the protesters. The director’s assistant then started beating the protesters, and this resulted in big fight started in the yard of “BTM TEXSTIL”. The representatives of the trade union had to call the patrol police to come and calm down the situation.
