Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Public Broadcasting Resigned

May 27, 2008

Gia Tortladze, representative of the United Opposition, stated that Irakli Tripolski, the chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Public Broadcasting, resigned.

Tortladze stated he was in contact with Tripolski who confirmed the alleged information. “Irakli Tripolski is a person who cannot stand injustice. I personally called him and he said he resigned because of injustice that goes on at Georgian Public Broadcasting,” said Tortladze.

Representatives of the United Opposition call upon the members of the Board of Trustees to resign as well. “All private TV Stations worked in favor of the government on May 21, the Election Day. Public Broadcasting is one of them; TV Company “Kavkasia” was the only source that broadcasted true information. We appeal to other members of the Board of Trustees to take an example from Tripolski and resign from their positions. They should not continue showing nasty activities of Saakashvili and following his orders,” said Eka Beselia, representative of the United Opposition.
