UN Committee of the Rights of the Child Reviews Georgia’s Report

UN Committee of the Rights of the Child heard the third periodic report of Georgian at the 48th session in Geneva.

Levan Meskhoradze, the head of the International Relations Department within the Georgian Ministry of Justice, participated in the work of the committee. He spoke about the current situation facing the juvenile justice system, which included both implemented and planned amendments within this sphere.

The UN Committee of the Rights of the Child hears the reports of the member states four times a year.

Georgian side at the committee session was represented by representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science; Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Welfare; Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Prosecutor General’s office.

After the report is analyzed the committee will work out corresponding recommendations.
