Fixing Date of New Elections will be resolved on June 10th or ”Never”

June 3, 2008

”The most expected outcome of the political rally that is planned on June 10 in front of the Parliament of Georgia will be the announcement of a date for new parlimentary elections. This issue will be dealt either on the rally day or never because we are not planning to contunue the protest demonsrtations after June 10,” told Kakha Kukava, a member of the United Opposition Medianews.

He said that the United Opposition aims to picketing parliament hall and not provide the opportunity for them to work.

Kukava states that there are no guarantees that all oppositional forces in the United Opposition will stick to the the decision for boycotting the parliament sessions, and he is sure that this will not be the case.

He aslo says that the most important will be the number of people on the rally and not the number of the oppositional parties who are going to boycott the parliament sessions.

Kukava says that legally the United National Movement has enough seats in the new parliament for its functioning and the boycott of oppositional parties will not make any difference.

Barrs were installed on the parliament windows two days ago. Kukava comments on this facts. He says that maybe the government is trying to protect itself from people’sefforts to break into the building. ”We are not planning to break into the building. I don’t know maybe the security will surrenderon their own accord,” states Kukava.
