Lado Vardzelashvili “Deadbeat” in Salary Arrears

Lado Vardzelashvili, Shida Kartli Regional Governor, is not going to pay arrears for former administration personnel. Eka Soitashvili, chief accountant of the Governor/s administration, confirmed the information in her interview with the Human Rights Centre.

The Protocol of the Chamber of Control, issued on March 25 2008, stated that the governor’s administration had incurred a debt of 62,600 GEL as of January 1. 16, 000 GEL out of the total sum was arrears for the administration personnel; 5 000 GEL consists of social taxes and the remaining 45, 500 GEL includes other staff and communal related expenses.

Eka Soitashvili reported that Lado Vardzelashvili requested the Ministry of Finances to discharge the administration from the debts. The accountant explained that the decision was based as there is a lack of funds.
