Court Postponed Discussion of the Suit of TV Company “Maestro”

June 27, 2008

On June 26 Tbilisi City Court postponed the discussion of the suit brought by the Cable TV Company “Maestro”. The court only conducted a preparatory session and fixed the date for the main process for 10:00 AM on July 10.

Tamar Kordzaia, board member of the NGO Young Lawyers Association and a lawyer for the TV Company, reported that the reason for postponing the thorough discussion of the suit was that the judge was busy. The attorney stated the judge had to discuss some other administrative crime cases.

“Maestro” has appealed against the decision of the Communication National Commission of April 4. According to the decision the cable channel was refused to receive a new license. If “Maestro” had received the license they could show public-political programs. Currently, they broadcast only entertainment programs based on their current license.
