In Ref: Radio Hereti, Suit Court Resumes Adjudication Proceedings

July 1, 2008

Today the Administrative Division of the Tbilisi City Court resumed the hearing of the administrative case against Georgian National Communication Commission (GNCC).  Presumably, the court hearing will show whether the judge will satisfy the suit of Radio Hereti or not.

Radio Hereti requests to annul the administrative act of GNCC. According to the Commission, Radio Hereti had been broadcasting without a license for 7 months. However, the radio Hereti has presented receipts for paying license fees and other documents on time, as the radio administration stated.

When the radio broadcasted notorious audio tapes eliciting the pressure being applied on Radio Hereti, the Commission on one hand awarded a 10-year broadcast license to Hereti but on the other hand, GNCC fined the radio station 5000 GEL.

The radio administration considers that the Commission made a political decision.
