The Association of Georgian Attorneys has rotested against the court decision that sentenced Levan Patarkalishvili to a-two month term of pre-trial detention.
The Association of Georgian Attorneys expressed their dismay towards the decision of Criminal Chamber of the Tbilisi City Court during today’s press conference.
Kakhaber Aslanishvili, head of AGA told Medianews that Patarkalishvili was charged for influence peddling. This means that Patarkalishvili attempted to meet with the prosecutor to arrange a plea bargain for his client.
Kakhaber Aslanishvili stated that Patarkatsishvili was charged under Artile 339'. He stated that the charge was without merit as there is no evidence against Patarkalishvili. Aslanishvili considers that Patarkalishvili acted according the law and he could not exert undue influence on the prosecutor.
Levan Patarkalishvili , an attorney was detained on July 8. The head of AGA stated that the charges would be appealed in the Criminal Chamber of the Tbilisi City Court.
