“Greens” Condemned Russian Activities in Abkhazia

Yesterday, the Georgian Green Party received an official letter from the Human Rights Committee of the European Committee over the Winter Olympiad 2014 that will take place in Sochi, Russia.

Today, Giorgi Gachechiladze, the leader of the Green Party, reported during a press conference that the official letter of the European Parliament states they are very interesting about the activities of Russian government in Abkhazia. Regarding the issue they will definitely investigate the Sochi Olympiad issue.

Giorgi Gachechiladze said that Russia will need 110-150 million cubic meters of constructive inert materials to carry out the construction of Olympiad facility. Russia intends to obtain the raw material from Kodori Cape that will result into ecological disaster on the seacoast.

The Green Party appealed to the International Olympic Committee, European Green Party, European Parliament and US Administration and has also requested their assistance.

The first reaction was from International Olympic Committee over the Russian activities. Jan-Clod Keel, the head of the coordination commission of the committee, met with Vladimer Putin, former Russian president and current Prime Minister.

The Georgian Green Party appeals to Russia once more to stop crucial activities regarding Abkhazia. Otherwise, they will try to prevent the Olympic Games of Sochi in 2014.
