01.08.2008
Under the demand of Movement “Do not Wreck” activists, there will be not seven but four storied building on Freedom Square beside the Tbilisi Sakrebuli.

The joint movement of “Youth Front” and “Tbilisis Hamkari” called “Do Not Wreck” protested against the destruction of historic house on the Freedom Square and the construction of 7 storied modern building.

The Bank Republic, the initiator of the construction made the concessions and reduced the number of floors and agreed to use the ornaments from the old building in the new project for the building. “Our Movement has managed to maintain the face of the Freedom Square.

The project’s investor lost millions of dollars because of the changes incorporated into the project. However, they made the right decision,” states Luka Tsuladze, the leader of Youth Front.

The agreement on changing the project is only verbal at this time. However, it is unknown at this time whether the building owners will actually agree in the end or not to the proposed changes.
