Dangerous IDP Side-Show and Children Victims Again

August 27, 2008

On August 26 nearly 50 IDP children from Tskhinvali and Gori districts were not allowed to enjoy the attractions in Telavi Culture and Rest Park “Nadikvari”. The park administration reported to the representative of the Human Rights Center that Kakheti regional administration did not allow them to turn on the attractions for IDP children; they were told that the play-stations were out of order and they posed a danger to children.

Regional based journalists than applied to interim Kakheti regional governor, Shota Tarkhnishvili to allow children to play on the attraction but in vain. The IDP children were taken to Kakheti with the initiative of journalists and non-governmental organizations.

Kakheti regional administration claims that play-station is not discharged as a scrap-iron but it is really dangerous for children. It must be noted that short time ago Georgian president opened the play-ground with a colossal ceremony.
