Kvareli Population Seeks Urgent Assistance

August 29, 2008

Population living in the villages of Akhalsopeli and Balghojiani in the Kvareli district needs immediate help as a result of recent flooding; people are unable to enter their houses.

Locals reported to the Human Rights Center that as a result of heavy rains on August 28 their houses flooded and the overflowing river brought road metal side rails and rubbish into the houses.

Currently people cannot enter their homes. Locals have applied to the Koba Burkiashvili, Kvareli District Governor, but there been no result to their pleas. The governor has not demonstrated any interest in their problems whatsoever
