Village of Matsimi Waterless

September 15, 2008

The village of Matsimi in the Lagodekhi district has been without a supply of water for over one month already.

Locals told Radio Hereti that the works carried out at the source of the water supply should have resolved their problem but it did not work out as expected.

They have not choice but to continue fetching water from the villages that are located several kilometers away.

Villagers claim that the repair-works of the source should have finished on September 1. However, Gia Gozalishvili, Lagodekhi district governor, stated that the work would finish by the end of September.

The population of the village of Mastsimi demands to meet the board of Lagodekhi municipality and requests it to resolve their problem once and for good.  If the local authority leaves them without attention people are threatening a protest by blocking the main highway.
