Chairperson of the Commission for Properties in Sighnaghi Resigns

September 26, 2008

Reportedly, Niko Dznelashvili, chairperson of the commission for granting land deeds within the Sighnaghi Municipality Board intends to resign from his position.

In his conversation with us, Dznelashvili stated that the reason of his decision was being oppressed and pressured from high-ranking officials.

Reportedly, several days ago, the commission canceled the Deed of Ownership issued on March 17 2008. Based on the deed Valeri Goniashvili registered the land of 800 sq. meters in Sighnaghi. Consequently, the commission requested the Sighnaghi registration service center within the Public Registry to cancel the ownership of Goniahsvili on the land. Valeri Goniashvili claims that Zaza Zedelashvili, Sighnaghi district governor, oppressed the commission members.

Niko Dznelashvili did not want to comment on the suppression. “I cannot say anything, I am resigning from my position,” he said.
