The Gurjaani District Governor’s Office has abolished the school workshop for national handcraft. Maia Liu, principal of this school has confirmed this information to the Human Rights Centre.
The workshop for national handcraft functioned in the building of Gurjaani town Culture Center. About 50 children studied embroidering, drawing, thick felt production, carpet knitting and other traditional forms of handcraft in the school free-of-charge.
Maia Liu states that the director of Culture Center reduces the stuff in those institutions that subordinate the Culture Center and dismissed Liu. Liu also states that the Culture Center director threw the school’s materials, including the handiworks of the students from the school building.
Gurjaani District Governor’s Office does not comment on the closure of the school.
