NGOs Criticize Activities of Sighnaghi First Medical Service

October 27, 2008

Club of Kakheti NGOs criticizes activities of the Sighnaghi first medical aid service. The club’s representatives stated the service does not react on the calls in a timely fashion. Moreover, have been instances when emergency response doctors did not have pain-killers and other necessary medicines when they went out on calls.

“Other than the information that was provided by locals who are most concerned, representatives of our club personally witnessed how an ambulance arrived at the place one hour after having been called Sighnaghi. The doctors did not have the most basic of instruments to measure a person’s temperature and to take blood pressure readings,” said the representatives of NGO club.

Nugzar Latibashvili, the head of Sighnaghi First Medical Aid Service Centre, denies the accusations made against their office. He claims they have all medicines that are on the list provided by the Ministry of Healthcare. As for late arrivals, Latibashvili stated that three brigades of the first aid cannot manage to cope with all emergency calls on time.
