Kakhetian Pheasants Demand Access to Tractors Donated by Georgian President

October 29, 2008

Kakhetian pheasants are demanding that be given the opportunity to use the tractors that were given by the President as a gift for their use. The small farmers informed us that in those villages where service centers have not been formed yet, only the village leaders and those connected with the administration are able to use the tractors.

The farmers claim that the former village governors and their associates are the ones that make the decision. “Either tractors are taken by fellowship members or tractor price is very expensive,” state farmers from Chandara, Dzirko and Akurasa, which is among other Kakehtian villages experiencing the same problem. They say they applied to the local government with the request to solve this problem but all their attempts have been in vain.

The pheasants say if they have no access to tractors given by the president they will have more uncultivated plots this year than even compared with last year.
