Preliminary Results of the Mid-Term Parliamentary Elections Published

Central Election Commission has come out with the preliminary results of the mid-term parliamentary elections.

Natalia Chkheidze, the head of the department for public and international relations of the CEC, reported that the vote cast in nearly 80 percent of election precincts has already been counted.

According to preliminary data for Vake Election District, Tbilisi Tamaz Kvachantiradze, (representative of Giorgi Targamadze’s Christian-Democratic Party from the opposition) is the leader with 42, 61 percent of the vote. Levan Asatiani, candidate from the political union “Chven Tviton” has received34, 25 percent. As for Kakha Koridze, candidate from the political union “Kartuli Dasi”, he gained just 22, 86 percent.

In Didube Election District, Tbilisi, Guram Chakhvadze candidate from the National Democratic Party, is leader of the voting. He has gained 65 percent of votes. Natela Mikiashvili, candidate from Kartuli Dasi has gained 19 percent and occupies second place.

Jemal Natelashvili, candidate of the Georgian Radical-Democrats National Party, is in the third place with 9, 7 percent.

During the mid-term elections the vote turnout has reached 11, 44 percent in Didube Election District and 7, 63 percent in Vake Election District.
