A Human Rights Organization Web Site Sabotaged

November 20, 2008

The web site of the Georgian NGO Former Political Prisoners for Human Rights www.fpphr.org has been sabotaged. All books and publications that were posted on the web site for years have been deleted.

Nana Kakabadze, chairperson of Former Political Prisoners for Human Rights: “I wanted to see a book. I could not find the book on the web site. Therefore, I contacted the IT manager who created our web site and asked him to find out what was wrong. It turned out that a hacker had broken the site and deleted all the information. The IT manager restored only few irrelevant pictures. All texts are lost.

We had annual human rights reports on the web site. People had access to the reports of previous years. They could compare the present human rights situation with the previous years. We had also our recently issued book “Façade Democracy”, the list of political prisoners and other relevant information on the web site. Everything was deleted; all this information was interesting for international organizations.”

Nana Kakabadze says that the organization’s web site was broken after they posted the photos of Georgian solders and their interviews.
