Parliamentary Minority Requests to Set Up Commission to Investigate Dispersal of Demonstration on November 7 2007

Parliamentary minority intends to petition on establishment of the commission to investigate the dispersal of the peaceful demonstration on November 7, 2007.

Parliamentary minority initiated to establish investigation commission after Sozar Subari, Georgian Public Defender, made a report to the parliament on December 30, 2008 and he spoke about the details of the dispersal.

Subari stated that he would provide the investigation commission, if similar is set up in the parliament, with all details and information about the accident.

During his report to the parliament Public Defender stated that dispersal of the demonstration on November 7, 2007 was planned by Vano Merabishvili, Minister of Defense, Zurab Adeishvili, former Minister of Justice, Bacho Akhalaia, head of Georgian Penitentiary Department and Davit Kezerashvili, former Minister of Defense. The plan was worked out in the office of Vano Merabishvili. If the majority in the parliament agrees to establish investigation commission, it will work for 3 months and will be set up of 15 members. Candidates for commission members will be nominated before February 1.
