People Arrested after the Demonstration Yesterday Are Now Released

March 17, 2009

Several people, arrested after the demonstration of non-governmental organization yesterday, were released by patrol police.

One of the detainees Nikoloz Gobechia stated that he was released from police station of Old Tbilisi after he was tested on drug-addiction together with his three friends.

He added that patrol police arrested him near Opera House when they were sitting into a taxi.

“Giorgi Gegechkori, head of Tbilisi Patrol Police Department, saw us when sitting in a taxi. One of my friends said the police would arrest us and indeed we were detained five minutes later. My friend was arrested during previous demonstrations and Gegechkori recognized him,” said Gobechia.
