“Movement for the Just Georgia” Blames Police For Dispersing the Demonstration

“Movement for the Just Georgia,” a political party of former prime-minister of Georgia, Zurab Noghaideli, reported that their branch office in Batumi was holding a peaceful demonstration in Adjara. Students and supporters of the movement called upon the population to take part in the protest demonstration that is planned for April 9 and they were putting up posters on the walls.

Suddenly, Davit Gvarjaladze, deputy head of Adjara Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, representatives of his department and Constitutional Security Department approached the demonstrators and started to disperse them. They seized posters and paints from demonstrators and physically assaulted them; women were among harassed demonstrators.
