Statement

April 13, 2009

Non-governmental organization Human Rights Center considers that without real compromises the dialogue between the government and opposition parties will be useless..The organization thinks that important steps should be taken in order to restore confidence between the parties and to start a dialogue. Among these steps are the return of TV Companies “202” and “Imedi” to their owners and the release of political prisoners. The Center calls upon the government to compromise in order to avoid the escalation of the situation: to return the TV Company “202” to its owners Shalva Ramishvili and Davit Kokhreidze and the TV Company “Imedi” to the family of Badri Patarkatsishvili. The Center also called upon the government to start the process of releasing political prisoners.
