Representative of the Public Defender Requested the Information on Detainees from the Ministry of Interior

Last night, incident happened between the activists of the opposition parties and patrol policemen  near the Café “Marjanov” close to the Marjanishvili Theater where President Mikheil Saakashvili was at that moment. Opposition leaders and activists arrived at the place to hold a rally and it resulted into a quarrel with the patrol policemen. Two activists were arrested.

Opposition leaders - Nino Burjanadze, Levan Gachechiladze, Koko Gamsakhurdia, Kakha Kukava and Goga Khaindrava arrived at the place of incident. They stated the activists achieved their aim and President Saakashvili ran out of the café after activists came there.

Representative of the Public Defender requested the information on detainees from the Ministry of Interior.

Deputy Public Defender Giorgi Chkheidze stated he personally witnessed the incident in front of the café and two activists were arrested in front of him.

He said the public defender’s office applied to the ministry of interior and requested the information about the location and conditions of the detainees.
