Released Prisoners Talk about Pressure in Police Station

Three members of the Youth Movement “April 9” released today talk about pressure in Police Stations.

According to the statement of Revaz Revazishvili, more than ten people beat him up.

“They beat me in turn. Then I was taken to the police station in Dolidze Street,” Revazishvili stated.

Melor Vachnadze claiomed he was not detained but kidnapped.

“Kidnappers did not show documents. They took me in unknown direction and then intimidated me at the police station. Then information about my being searched was delivered and they took me to the police station #7 in Vazha Pshavela in secret, where they attempted to interrogate me forcibly; however, I did not make any statement to them. I refused to be questioned; we will do our best to change current situaiton for the better,” Vachnadze noted.

As for Giorgi Oniani, he expressed his deep gratitude towards Catholic- Patriarch who petitioned the government for their release and added he wished to meet the Patriarch and to thank him personally.

All the three detained activists have injuries on their body.

As a result of the mediation of Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude, Illia II the detained three activists of opposition have been released.
