June 15, 2009

Nika Gelashvili, operator for the TV Company “Rustavi 2”, died when the building of the project “Star Academy” collapsed. Family members of Gelashvili are holding protest demonstration in front of the building of the Rustavi 2.

Widow of Nika Gelashvili, Tea Kakhiani reported to the Interpressnews that the family had been informed that the expertise has made a conclusion and one of the employees of the building company “Artix” was arrested.

Family members of Gelashvili demand the Rustavi 2 to broadcast the on-going trial.

“It was their project and their operators died. So we demand the Rustavi 2 to broadcast the court-process on the detainee,” said Tea Kakhiani.

Family members doubt that TV Company protects the interests of the building company “Artix”.

As for the founder of the Building Company, Tea Kakhiani said that it was founded by the wife of the former defense minister Davit Kezerashvili and sister-in-law of the deputy foreign minister, Giga Bokeria.

Family members of Nika Gelashvili left posters on the building of the TV Company “Rustavi 2”: “Broadcast the Court Proceedings,” “Whose Interests Does Rustavi 2 Protect?”
