Part of Kakheti Population Is not Provided with Natural Gas in Order to Sell Liquid Gas

June 30, 2009

About 2 weeks ago, in four regions of Kakheti - Gurjaani, Kvareli, Lagodekhi and Telavi districts – gas-supply was cut off because of rehabilitation work on the trunk-line. Later, gas-supply was cut off in other regions of Kakheti as well. Now about 10 villages of the Kakheti region are left without gas. According to the gas Distribution Companies, official reason was rehabilitation work on the trunk-line but none of the companies could say exactly on which part of the trunk-line the rehabilitation work is going on. Representatives of the Gas Distribution Companies stated in private conversation that people were not provided with natural gas in order to sell liquid gas.
