Population of Zemo Machkhaani Village Will Request Drinking Water at Rallies

July 23, 2009

The population of the village of Zemo Machkhaani in Sighnaghi district is going to start rallies to demand drinking water.

Locals say they have not been supplied with drinking water for many years. During the pre-election campaigns the government used to promise villagers to resolve the problem but in vain. Locals say funds were allocated for the resolution of the water problem in their village at different times but nothing has been done yet.

Officials of the Sighnaghi district administration say the complaints of the residents of Zemo Machkhaani are false. They said the funds had never been allocated at the local budget.
