Tamaz Lakerbaia from Gudauta Applied for Georgian Citizenship

August 14, 2009

In about an hour after the address of Gia Baramia, the chairperson of the legitimate Government of Abkhazia to the inhabitants of Abkhazian separatist region, a person who claims to be Tamaz Lakerbaia crossed an administrative border between Abkhazia and Georgia on Enguri Bridge.

He claims that the situation in Abkhazia is much tensed and Russian occupants have taken away all rights from Abkhazians.

“I crossed the Enguri Bridze, met Gia Maramia and applied for Georgian citizenship as a mean of protest (against the activities of Russians in Abkhazia),” said he.

Tamaz Lakerbaia claims that his family members remain in Abkhazia but he had to leave them and apply for Georgian citizenship.

Gia Baramia addressed the Abkhaz people on the 17th anniversary of the war in Abkhazia.
