Two Opposition Activists were sentenced to Imprisonment

The Gori City Court sentenced Davit Gudadze and Tamaz Tlashadze, both activist of the Republic Party to four and three years of prison terms respectively on August 16, reports Georgian Bureau of Radio Liberty. Both Gudadze and Tlashadze were on the list of political prisoners of the opposition which was presented on a meeting of opposition with high ranking law enforcers on August 12. 

Both activitst were arrested in the mid-June. Gudadze was detained for illegal possession and keeping of a grenade and Tlashadze for illegal keeping of drugs.

Both of them deny the accusations and state that their arrest was politically motivated.

The names of both activists are on the list of political prisoners which the MIA representatives received from the opposition on August 12. According to the opposition the Ministry of Internal Affairs will study the cases of alleged political prisoners and will give subsequent comments in a about a week after the meeting.
