Shalva Ramishvili Will Be Released Tomorrow

August 25, 2009

Shalva Ramishvili, cofounder of the TV Company 202, who was accused of extortion, will be released tomorrow.

According to Tea Abashmadze, wife of the convict, Ramishvili will leave Rustavi Prison 2 tomorrow at 11:30.

“Family members will assemble for his release from Rustavi Prison at 11:00 o’clock,” said Abashmadze.

The 4-year prison term of Shalva Ramishvili ends tomorrow. He was accused of extortion and gaining money from Koba Bekauri, a former member of parliament. The officers of the Constitutional Security Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained Ramishvili and Davit Kohkreidze, another co-founder of the TV Company 202, on August 26, 2005 on account of extortion. Davit Kokhreidze was released due to a pardon by the president, but Ramishvili refused to accept the pardon.
