Employees of Elit Electronics Request the Company Administration and the Government to Help them Maintain their Jobs

Employees of Elit Electronics request the company administration and the government to help them maintain their jobs. The employs of a chain of shops of household equipment Elit Electronics and Elitel released an address to the company administration and the government today which says that the chain of shops had been closed for 5 days now.

“We are in a very difficult situation. We might face unemployment. This is when we are the main sustainers of our families,” reads the address.

The employees say they have credits from bank. If they do not cover the credits many of them might lose their home and other means of life.

“Each job is important today. More than 2 000 people might face unemployment if this company is shut down. We address both the government and the company administration to help us to maintain our workplaces”, say the employees. They say they will gather with this demand every day in front of the company head office from 1 to 5 o’clock.

Elit Electronics has been disputing over 7 million GEL fine imposed by the Finance Police from 2007. The court proceedings are not finished yet. The bank accounts of the company were frozen on August 10, 2009. However, the company continued to work. On August 21 the Tax Inspection started inspecting the chain shops and both Elitel and Elit Electronics chain of shops were closed down.
