Temur Gutsmazti Was Arrested In Tskhinvali for Espionage in Favor of Georgia

Tskhinvali de-facto authority sentenced Temur Gutsmazti to sixteen-year-imprisonment for the espionage in favor of Georgia. The information was spread by the de-facto Committee of Information and Printed Media in Tskhinvali.

Trial on Gutsmazti ended on August 31. He was judged for high treason under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of Russian Federation.

Judge at the so-called Supreme Court concluded that officer of the de-facto Security Department of South Ossetia Gutsmazti was won over by Aleksandre Medzmariashvili, an officer of the Counter-Intelligence Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and cooperated with him for a long time. According to the investigation carried out by Ossetian law enforcement officers, Gutsmazti provided Medzmariashvili with the information about defense system.

So called Supreme Court sent the “spy of Georgia” to prison for 16 years and bailed him with 100 000 Russian rubles. He was deprived from his military title of Major.

So-called Tskhinvali State Security Committee arrested Temur Gutsmazti on September 19, 2008.
