Governor of Mtisdziri Village: “I Will Shoot Anybody Who Will Sue Me”

October 6, 2009

Malkhaz Kalaijishvili, governor of the village of Mtisdziri in Kvareli district threatens the victimized villagers with shooting if they sue him.

Residents of the village of Mtisdziri, whose pigs were killed in summer of 2007 according to the
decision of the public officials to avoid the Montgomery epidemics,  are  going to appeal to the court  and request compensation. Kakheti office of the Human Rights Centre provides the villagers with legal aid.

Mtisdziri governor confirmed that he threatened the villagers in interview with Kakheti News Centre. “I did not kill their pigs. I will shoot everybody who will dare to take me to the court,“ said Malkhaz Kalaijishvili.

Public Defender Sozar Subari recommended to the government of Georgia to compensate the victimized villagers in 2008, but the government did not pay attention to his recommendation.
