October 7, 2009

About one hundred people working on the reconstruction of the drinking-water system in the village of Gurjaani in Gurjaani district have not received salaries for four months already. Now they plan to hold protest demonstrations.

The workers said they have applied to the administration of the “Modern Ltd” several times but they were told the Gurjaani district administration was late to transfer the sums on their account.

According to the official information received by the Kakheti News Center, based on the resolution of the government of Georgia 599 986 GEL was allocated for the rehabilitation of the drinking water system in the village of Gurjaani. The winner company “Modern Ltd” implemented the activities. Deputy district governor Goga Petruzashvili stated 499 240 GEL was transferred to the company. “Salaries of the workers were envisaged in the transferred sum. Although we have to transfer additional 100 746 GEL, it is the profit of the company and they will receive it after the forensic expertise assess the implemented activities and prepare corresponding conclusion,” said Petruzashvili.
